CHRONIQUE D’UNE MARIEE MODERNE #6

She is Paige Newton and she recently did a stunning modern, editorial-style bridal session with a solid crew of babes in Austin, TX.

We are in love, and we want you to discover more about her!

Bio:

I’m a photographer based in Austin, TX and I spend about 2-3 months/year in Sydney, Australia where my husband is from.

My work, generally:

I shoot a little bit of everything but I particularly love shooting fashion editorials and portraits. Collaborating with other creatives in Austin and Sydney (and anywhere else I might be lucky enough to land) is my favorite thing to do. I also love shooting intimate weddings where I get a ton of creative freedom to focus on portraits and capturing real, genuine moments. I really love traveling so I’d also love to move more into destination weddings.

My work, specifically:

This specific photoshoot was inspired by wanting to break away from the traditional bridal portrait. So for this shoot we created my « dream bride« – fashion forward and edgy but with a bit of quirkiness and fun.

what inspires you?

I’m inspired by so many things. Music, plants, other photographers, film, fashion. I’m currently obsessed with all things Solange and the creative director Carlota Guerrero. The aesthetic they created for Cranes in the Sky is just so good.

could you describe a typical day?

A typical day is always different. The one thing that’s always a part of my day, regardless of my location is coffee. I must have it. If I’m home in Austin, I try to squeeze in yoga or spin class in between any photo shoots I may have that day. Unfortunately owning your own business involves a lot of time catching up on emails and doing boring computer work but I try to mix it up with lots of time at our local swimming holes, happy hours with friends, and time with my family. My husband and I love to cook dinner and hang with our pups as well. When we’re in Sydney, it’s lots of time spent with friends, family, and the beach.

Favorite spots:

Locally, I love our swimming spots: Barton Springs, McKinney Falls, the Green Belt. Sydney is full of incredible beaches: Coogee, Bronte, Clovelly. We love the tea tree lakes near Byron Bay, Queensland because we got engaged there. I’m obviously obsessed with water, ha! Water and really good restaurants. If I’m swimming and eating good food, I’m a happy girl. And then, of course, there’s heaps of other cities (and bodies of water) around the world that I love and plenty I can’t wait to visit.

Favorite books/music/magazines:

This is hard because I’ve got a bit of wandering eye/ear in terms of my tastes. Franny and Zooey (J.D. Salinger) is one of my all time favorites as well You Shall Know Our Velocity (Dave Eggers). And I’m a big sucker for a killer cookbook or a coffee table book filled with beautiful photography. Music wise, I’m all across the board from Led Zeppelin to Otis Redding to Beyonce to Conor Oberst. And magazines, I love Another Magazine, Oyster, and The Smith Journal among many, many others.
